Assessments
It is essential that all students come well-prepared for the seminars. The seminars will only work if all present participate in the discussion. You must read the material carefully, taking notes as you go. Much of the material you will encounter is new and difficult. Do not be deceived into thinking that because a piece is short it contains little information or little thought. Leave yourself plenty of time to read the articles.
Your assessment will be in the form of a seminar journal that you will hand in at the office in the final week of seminars (due 12/14 in the department office). This will contain a (typed not handwritten, single spaced) one page summary and assessment for each of the four readings discussed in the seminars. You will be expected to bring the journal to the seminars so that each of you will have at least one question to discuss in the course of the seminar.
Remember, this assessment is worth 40% your mark.
